Excitement and a little nervous with a touch of nausea.

I incorporated myself last November with the intention that I could still freelance for the company I was about to leave. However, the company was not making a profit and with the turn of events (employee exodus), it was just not an option. Who knew things could change so fast in a few weeks. After I left, I placed an ad on Kijiji to do freelance (simple) graphic design. I didn’t get a single email. The market was too saturated with the unemployed and with oil prices tanking, Calgary was in layoff season again.

Then I decided it was time for me to do something I wanted to do for a while, become certified to teach yoga. At first I looked at India since it was the birthplace of yoga and the course was slightly cheaper. But on the other hand, my fiancé and I were planning to visit my family in Malaysia during the Chinese New Year break in Malaysia. So a few pillow talk and Google sessions later, we decided on Thailand since it’s close to Malaysia and that would save me some much needed moola. I would stay on and travel with him and then we fly home. And so with the new plan, I was absent for about 2 months, and now I’m back in Canada and thinking about what to do with myself.

Of course I have a lot of things on the go, working on teaching yoga for one, my art and music, and a lot of other things that take the mental energy out of me.

So, today I decided, I need a break for my brain from time to time and surfing the internet or watching Netflix, I need some hands on work. And so today, I went and got me some fabric. My hands on work will be sewing. And when I got home, I sat down and a whole bunch of ideas came splattering (yes, splattering) into my brain thing and now I’m very excited, maybe more than I need to be, but I can’t wait to show you what I’m working on! It will take a while, but you’ll be the first to know!

World Cake – the Best Birthday Cake so far

For my fiancé’s birthday last week, I made him a cake but not just any cake. A cake of the earth. One could say that “I gave him the world for his birthday.” One could even say “He means the world to me.” This is a great cake for birthdays, anniversaries or anytime you want to make someone smile.

Here’s a tip for making your own world cake: Avoid going into too much detail on South East Asia or you’d be spending an hour making islands =P

Carry on, carry on

As my readership continues to grow from 2 people to 3 people, I’m excited to announce that I have started my art page! Please have a look at my art here. There is so much more to upload and everything is taking much more time than anticipated. The photographing, the cropping, editing et cetera is so daunting when you are trying to catch up on years of undocumented work. There are some images up there that I will need to re-upload as the quality isn’t very good but I have to accept them as they are right now and keep going. Otherwise, nothing will get done. I have accepted that some things will take time to master. So it is what it is for now. If you have any tips on how to photograph graphite so it doesn’t reflect, please let me know.
